Course Title: Oracle Database Administration II

Course Preview: This course is a continuation of Oracle Database Administration I and is needed in working towards the Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) exams. See the learning outcomes for more information. While it is generally recommended to take the courses in order, Oracle does not mind the order that you take the tests, just as long as you pass them. It is recommended that the student either have taken the Oracle Administration I class or have a good understanding of how Oracle works. Having a general understanding of either Linux or UNIX is helpful as well.

Learning Outcomes: 1: Better understanding of backup and recovery of an Oracle Database.
2: Deeper understanding of storage
3: How to use ASM
4: Better ways to use resources within the database - performance tuning
5: Greater understanding of users and security.
Evaluation Procedures: Students will be assessed with test, labs, and papers during the class. This includes a mid-term, final lab, and final test. Since this is a hands on class, class participation will be taken into account as well.

Point ranges for each grade:
A = 90-100
B = 80-89
C = 70-79
D = 60-69
F = 0-59
Attendance Policy: Since this class has a lab attached to it, and the labs are part of the grade students should make all efforts to attend each class. If not, it is up to the student to let the instructor know of his/her absence.
