Course Preview: This Humanities course is part of the core curriculum for all students and focuses on awareness and enjoyment of the Visual Arts. This course is ideal for students who need the flexibility of an online course.
Textbooks and Other Course Materials: 1: "Prebles' ARTFORMS: An Introduction to the Visual Arts" Ninth Edition by Patrick Frank; Prentice Hall; ISBN 13: 978-0-13-514132-8 / ISBN 10: 0-13-514132-X.
Learning Outcomes: 1: To have direct experience with works of visual art.
2: To understand the vocabulary used in analyzing art.
3: To have a knowledge of media for creating art.
4: To become more familiar with art history.
Evaluation Procedures: 1 (3-4 page) paper; 7 multiple choice and true/false quizzes; and 1 multiple choice and true/false final exam. Extra credit work is available for students who want to improve their grades. (Note: This past semester the average final grade of my online Art Appreciation students was an A).

Point ranges for each grade:
A = 900-1000
B = 800-899
C = 700-799
D = 600-699
F = <600
Attendance Policy: Attendance is not required. As this is an online course, students submit all work over the Internet. Note: Students independently visit a museum in connection with writing the course's only required paper.
